Selection a significant coup for Escher Group

New IBM center will support the installation, customization and maintenance of Escher Group's WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential software and products

Boston, Mass - September 29, 2004 - IBM is to open a new global Center of Excellence (COE) for Postal Counter Automation. The COE will specifically support the installation, customization and maintenance of Escher Group's WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential software and associated products in a post office counters or kiosk environment, and is fully supported by Escher Group Ltd.

Postal authorities around the world are faced with productivity issues in their retail channel, and balancing the cost of the retail network versus the revenue from the smaller outlets. The combination of Escher's WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential proven technology and IBM's leading workstations and servers, effective deployment skills and financing options offer a unique solution to these issues. Following on from the announcement of their joint global marketing agreement, in April 2003, and to further enhance the ability to help our postal clients, IBM has announced the launch of the COE for Postal Counter Automation.

The purpose of the COE is threefold:

  1. Provide expertise and in depth training in the installation and customization of the WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential products,

  2. Provide a centralized development resource for WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential deployment projects,

  3. Provide ongoing support for WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential installations.

This support will include the further integration of WebRiposte™ and WebRiposte™ Essential with IBM WebSphere infrastructure software.

In addition, the COE can provide advice and guidance on many other issues related to the successful implementation of postal counter automation projects, including:

  • Business case and financing

  • Post office locations and layout

  • Implementation plan and priorities

  • Peripheral selection and procurement

  • Self service options such as kiosk or web access

  • CRM and customer loyalty

The IBM COE will initially be centered in Houston, TX.

A spokesperson for Escher Group said: "IBM Business Consulting Services brings a high-level of expertise and knowledge to any postal project, and has a history of successful WebRiposte™ projects. We are pleased to support the Center of Excellence and look forward to continued success in our partnership with IBM."
