In 1996, Post Office Counters, Ltd., selected Riposte® because of its demonstrated success in helping to streamline the performance of some of the most demanding transaction-based industries worldwide. Riposte has now automated 39,000 counter positions, and is used by some 65,000 postal staff. Currently, the UK installation processes in excess of £900 billion a year in over 2.4 billion transactions,which can be processed at a rate of up to 3,500 a second, making The Post Office's system the largest secure retail/banking computer network in Europe.

In December 2000, The Post Office in the UK selected Escher’s WebRiposte™ as the platform for its network banking service. With the introduction of WebRiposte, The Post Office plans to offer additional banking services, bureau de change, and a range of e-commerce services. Through the use of Escher's products, The Post Office now has an infrastructure from which it can extend its range of services to the 28 million customers it attracts each week.
