Zimbabwe Post selects Escher Group's RiposteEssential™

Fourth African country selects Escher’s postal counter automation system

Boston, Mass - May 18, 2006 - Escher Group Ltd announced that Zimbabwe Posts (Pvt) Limited (trading as Zimpost) has selected RiposteEssential™ to automate its post office counter network. Zimbabwe is the fourth African country to select the Riposte® family of products to support a full range of postal, retail, government and financial services.

Zimpost is a government-owned entity, and plays a critical role in national economic development. The combined physical, electronic, and financial networks maintained and operated by postal organizations like Zimpost create optimal conditions for the development of electronic commerce within Zimbabwe and with other nations.

"RiposteEssential was clearly the best solution for our organization," stated Mr. S. Dandira, Project Director for the counter automation implementation and Operations Director of Zimpost. "It is proven technology that will enable us to respond to the market faster and with greater ease, while offering a wider array of postal, retail, and financial services to our customers. And, because the product is based on open standards, ease of integration provides the flexibility we may need as we seek future business opportunities."

By implementing RiposteEssential, Zimpost expects to significantly improve customer service and reduce administrative overheads and fraudulent activities associated with manual systems. In addition, RiposteEssential will help Zimpost produce timely and accurate management reports and provide a platform on which it can derive business intelligence for purposes of marketing, stock distribution, and improved resource utilization. Ultimately, the project will help Zimpost provide its customers with the best value and quality of service available.

RiposteEssential is Escher Group’s postal counter automation solution, licensed by more than 25 countries worldwide, providing high-performance applications such as postage assessment, retail sales, bill payments, financial services, and government services. Based on industry standards, the product enables the rapid development, distribution and management of secure, reliable transactions across multi-channel networks. Its unique XML-based messaging model enables postal networks of all sizes and in the most remote geographic locations to easily and securely automate services.

President and CEO of Escher Group, Liam Church, said: "by replacing manual and hybrid systems with a standard such as Riposte, Zimpost will benefit, almost immediately, from increased productivity and low costs while helping to improve customer service and bring greater value to their customers."
